Keep your heart happy by using cardio treadmills.

Cardio treadmills are the ideal exercise equipment to give you a cardiovascular workout. Your heart needs exercise to function properly and it is recommended that you do at least 25 to 30 minutes per day exercising. Combined with a good balanced diet, these cardio treadmills will go a long way in helping you achieve a healthy lifestyle.

What are the main benefits of using cardio treadmills? Cardio treadmills have many advantages but most important, they lead you to a path of healthier living. The main benefits of cardio treadmills include increased general fitness, improved self-confidence, better sleeping , more energy, improved libido, and a more toned figure.

For most of us, cardiac exercise is the easiest way to lose weight and can be easily accomplished through the use of cardio treadmills. Aside from being familiar with a natural activity such as walking or running, cardio treadmills help improve the heart rate. Exercising with cardio treadmills increases blood flow to our muscles, strengthens the heart and lungs and teaches the heart to work more efficiently. However, it is important to take a treadmill stress testing first before hopping on.

A stress test records the heart's electrical activity (rate and rhythm) during exercise on a cardio treadmill. It is done to help the doctor evaluate the patient's cardiac condition related to:

  • Irregular heart rhythms
  • If there is a decreased supply of blood and oxygen to the heart with exercise
  • How hard the heart can work before symptoms develop
  • How quickly the heart recovers after exercise
  • The patient's overall level of cardiovascular conditioning
  • What his exercise target heart rate (THR) should be

This is how a stress test occurs: patients with coronary artery blockages may have minimal symptoms and an unremarkable or unchanged EKG while at rest. However, symptoms and signs of heart disease may become unmasked by exposing the heart to the stress of cardiac exercise. During exercise, healthy coronary arteries dilate more than an artery that has a blockage. This unequal dilation causes more blood to be delivered to heart muscle supplied by the normal artery. In contrast, narrowed arteries end up supplying reduced flow to its area of distribution. This reduced flow causes the involved muscle to "starve" during exercise. The "starvation" may produce symptoms (like chest discomfort or inappropriate shortness of breath), and the EKG may produce characteristic abnormalities.

Cardiac exercise also works for treadmill training for stroke patients. After taking a stress test, these patients are subjected to a level 1 walking routine, which gradually increases up to a level 3 routine as their abilities develop. Cardio treadmills vary the intensity of the workout with different speeds and adjustments of incline to hone the leg muscles and increase blood flow.

It is important to use cardio treadmills, especially for more active trainings. This includes marathon running, endurance training and physical therapy. The harder the training, the better these treadmills serve your purpose.

So love your heart by taking the challenge of a cardio treadmill. Not only will you be happy with your appearance but you will also benefit in the long run with a longer life.
